Thumb slam and Heel stitches

Friday night I had taken two of my children school shopping. I had left my 9yr. old son at home with dad, as he hates shopping. Well we hit the local mall for shoe shopping. which was an adventure in itself! My 12 year old daughter has MONSTER feet, I just don't understand how a child's feet can be this big! Trying to find shoes that fit her is not a fun thing, and I have a feeling its only the beginning. After an hour of looking all over for size 9.5 Women's shoes, she finally settled on a pair. My 7 year old in the meantime, was playing around with his and his brothers shoe boxes. I finally managed to make it home around 8:30.

Alex was ready at the door to see what all I had brought him home. I gave him his shoes, then noticed that the size 6 I had picked up were no longer in the box but instead a size 2 took up this space. I questioned Ryan as to what happened to his brothers shoes. Of course I got the typical " I DUNNO" response. SO I packed up the shoes, the receipt and Alex in the car and hurried back to the mall to return the shoes.

As we were exiting the car, I yelled to Alex "Grab the bag". As soon as I said that I heard blood curdling screaming coming from my son. I rush over to the other side of the car and blood is coming from his thumb, apparently he decided to try to stop the door mid-air. He was still sobbing but I was able to run into the store and exchange the shoes and get the heck outta there in 5 minutes flat.

On Sunday, I needed to go grocery shopping for my mother who had suffered a broken hip and shattered ankle back in February. I dropped the kids off at her house and left for the grocery with my sister.

When I got home, Alex was yelling to me "Hey mom I cut my foot" I asked how and he said he was outside at grandma's playing football BAREFOOT and slipped and fell into the bush. Well I didnt think anything of it because he was acting normal. We left and proceeded home.

About 9:30 Alex is taking off his bandage and thats when I noticed how deep the cut actually was and that everytime he touched it blood was coming on out.

So off to the Emergency room. We spent 4 1/2hours in the ER for 3 stitches in his heel. No football practice or games for 10 days. Just hoping he doesnt fall behind or lose his position! Such a clutz the last couple days!

Today's a New day

I keep telling myself today's a new day, a fresh start! But no matter how hard I try the reality quickly snaps back and punches me in the face.

Being a mother is by no means a easy job, I love my kids more than a fat kid loves cake. But the everyday challenges of raising a ADHD child are never ending, not to mention the pre-teen stage is approaching quicker and quicker every minute! But I keep rolling with the punches facing the hand that I've been dealt and managing all of life's little obstacles. It's What being a Parent is all about loving, growing and changing.
